Destination: OUT of this World
Yes, that's an apt description of Tasmania. But if a picture is worth a thousand descriptive words, then see the camera atop my house in Binalong Bay pointing at the Bay of Fires. The view bankrupts the English language in trying to say it any better.
It's good to get lost, and this past week I drove all over parts of Tassie I'd never been before - and felt lost a bit. But made my way back 2200 kms and 7 days later to my favorite spot on the island, up here in the NE corner where the day breaks first in Australia. And where the crayfish (lobsters) are the best in the world. Gotta go get in my wet suit and catch one for dinner.
Ciao 4 now.

Dee,
I've sincerely enjoyed reading your blog! My husband is from Tasmania and we're heading back soon. Ah, crayfish, we used to dive for them daily!
Tried to send you an email a month ago, not sure if you received it!
Take care and welcome home!
Where the bloody hell are you? Crayfish await! Bay of Fires is afire but still beautiful. Look at www.coastview.com.au.
Cheers from Denver Dee turned Tasmaniac
Love that new campaign!
Plan to be there next Christmas. Have to get all the paperwork done and ship down the pooch!
We're counting down the days. In the meantme enjoy that view for us.
Mind if I add you to my bloglist (most are triathletes, but I talk about Tassie all the time!)
Sam & Dan
Yes, let's be on each others' blog lists. I was a training parnter for a triathlete back in Colorado, and even did a mini Ironman with her once (because my brother lives in Kona.
I have seen my first jogger and serious cyclist in St. helens this weekend, probably training for the upcoming bike ride across Tassie. Too bad you can't be here for that in Feb. and have to wait till next Christmas.
Happy Trails, Deetouring Dee
Sounds like fun! I'm still new to the tri thing, but it will keep me occupied until we can get back down there. I'm actually starting to aggrivated that we can't leave earlier. I'm ready to go!
Any change you knew Mike Catchpole at 40 Degrees South? I saw you wrote for them and my husband's family was friends with him.
No, didn't know Mike, and don't know if he was involved in early days of the magazine or after my time (which was mid 2003 for about 4 months with editor/publisher Warren Boyles.) The magazine has a new competitor, Tasmanian Life, which you can view online:tasmanianlife.com.au
TO further whet your appetite, look at www.leatherwoodonline.com. Forerunners of blogging about Tassie. Published by someone who was involved with the early editions of 40 Degrees South, then known as Leatherwood. Ah, yes, a small island.
What a great site--thanks! I even found an article on our friend Roger:

I can't wait to get back down there!
